A young college student was in the middle of his final exams and was unable
to finish a final paper in time of the proper due date. Two days later, he
walked into his professor’s office to hand in his newly finished paper, only
to have the professor reject it.
“I’m sorry, but it’s too late. The due date has already passed.” As
the professor said this, he gestured to a large stack of other students’
papers that had been handed in on time.
“Please can’t you make an exception? You haven’t even started grading
them yet.”
The professor continued to say no. The student then looked the professor
straight in the eye and asked angrily,
“Do you know who I am?”
“Well, no, I’m sorry, I’m afraid I don’t know your name.”
“Good!” The student then grabbed a bunch of the other students’ papers,
stuck his in the middle of the pile, and ran out of the office.
