A married couple moved into a
wealthy neighborhood that was a suburb of a big city in the east. Their
neighbors, a very nice, quiet Italian family, were rumored to have ties to the
Mafia. One weekend, the couple went away on a short trip, and on their return,
found that they had been robbed. Shocked and upset, they went through everything
and assessed the damage. Immediately after doing so, they went to their
neighbors to ask if they had seen anything suspicious during the weekend. The
neighbors replied that they hadn’t, but also asked about the stolen property.
Strangely, after telling their neighbors everything, they were told to just go
to bed and not to call the police that night. The neighbors would make a few
calls to see if they could find out more.
The next morning, the couple woke up and found all their missing property
placed neatly on their front porch.
