This girl makes no valid point. Unfortunately, her story is like her two Romeos—a bit stinky and lacks a point. Her conclusion that the art of the pickup is simply an art is not sound, based on the fact that her only basis of this judgment are two guys who are a few dry petals short of potpourri.
For most guys, the whole pickup routine is a terrifying process whether you look like George Clooney or Curious George. From our perspective, we have to make the first move of indicating interest. And if the girl is not receptive…well, let’s just say that it is a long walk back as you lose your manhood quicker than members of the Heaven’s Gate. So you have a bunch of creepy guys who have nothing to lose by asking women out. In their eyes, the art of the pickup is a law of average. Gee…if I ask out 1,000 girls and 1 percent of the girls hook up with me, ummm…. Hey Eddie, help me with the math! Okay, that’s ten girls.
Most guys do not take such a view and to lump us with two guys who are left of the chimps on the evolution chart would be like saying that girls only like guys who treat them like crap. The truth is that most guys are intelligent and sensitive. However, when they are in the presence of beautiful women, they suddenly lose the ability to speak and often their bowel control. Guys may approach women and want to say something wonderful and sweet like, “I was moved by your radiant smile and I was hoping I could get to know you better.” More often than not, guys get tongue-tied and these words come out like “So, do you got a phone number?”
If the point of your story is to show that two guys think that you are hot, more power to you. If the point is that they cannot speak coherently may be an indication of their language ability (in which case, you should meet them over Hooked on Phonics) or that they feel really nervous approaching women. If you wonder why more nice guys don’t approach women, your reaction epitomizes the fear that guys have. You gave a cold shoulder to the two dudes. And if women do that to brave albeit clueless souls, what chance do nice and intelligent guys have?
